The smallest state in India, Goa has close to 100 km long coastline that is dotted with stunning beaches. The place attracts tourists from around the globe for its serene environs and other attractions.
Being a coastal region, the climate in Goa is generally pleasant. The Konkan region along with the Western Ghats lends it a temperate climate for most of the year with monsoon season being the only exception. The temperature remains constant for most part of the year and sometimes it is difficult to distinguish between seasons.
The mercury generally remains between 25 to 30 degrees Celsius with nine to ten hours of bright sunshine daily during the summer months.
Monsoon Season
The most distinguishing feature of Goan climate is the monsoon that lasts from June to September. The region experiences a virtually dry spell for almost eight months before the heavens open and pour down buckets of rain during the remaining four months. The monsoon witnesses high humidity and an average rainfall of 250 to 300 cm.
After the monsoon, the skies clear once more and the weather remains perfect for the next four to five months with lots of sunshine and pleasant weather.

Monsoon season is better avoided for a visit when there is heavy rainfall accompanied with high levels of humidity. It is only after the monsoon that the tourists start to throng the beaches. Winters and spring season is the best time to visit Goa.
