Goa People and Their Lifestyle

Goa is truly happening in every sense of the word. The place hypnotizes every visitor with its mesmerizing natural beauty and umpteen tourist attractions. But perhaps the most important reason for the alluring charm of the place that keeps the tourists hooked on is the lifestyle of the people. Goa’s people are known to be extremely tolerant towards other cultures and that is one of the most important reasons for the culture of the place being a curious mix of the traditional and western lifestyles.

Goans, as the people of Goa are called are a happy bunch of people who believe in living life to the fullest. Goans are traditional people who are proud of their culture and believe in befriending everyone so much so that they do not even care for their comforts in an effort to make the guest feel at home. This is one quality of the Goan people’s lifestyle that entices the tourists to come back year after year.

The population of Goa consists of mainly Hindus and Christians both of whom live together in harmony keeping the true spirit of Goa to the fore. A strong evidence of the camaraderie can be witnessed in a number of places of worship where people of different faiths come together to offer their prayers.

The people of Goa enjoy a laid back lifestyle with siesta being an important part of the day. Most of the shops down shutters for one hour during the afternoon and take a break to rejuvenate for the evening when the party starts and continues till the wee hours of the morning.

Though the lifestyle of the people is laidback and an amalgamation of different cultures, the emphasis is on high quality living.
