Goa is one of the most visited tourist destinations in the country and is therefore well connected to other major cities in India through all the three major means of transport i.e. air, rail and road. The convenient location of the region makes it even easier to access it by using any of the commonly prevalent means of transport. The state also receives flights from some of the major cities around the world.
How to Reach Goa by Air
All major airlines offer regular to and fro services between Goa and other major Indian cities. Goa’s only airport is located at Dabolim on the outskirts of Vasco-da-Gama. The airport is located just 30 km from the capital Panaji and receives flights of Indian Airlines, Jet Airways, Spice Jet and Kingfisher Airlines. A number of chartered flights also come in from UK and other European countries. Besides, Air India also operates a few international flights, mostly to Gulf countries.
How to Reach Goa by Rail
Konkan Railway that connects Vasco and Madgao with other major cities in the country offers an easy passage into Goa. Regular to and fro trains are available between Goa and Mumbai (480 km), Bangalore (420 km) and Delhi (1860 km). Pre-paid taxis and autorickshaws are easily available at the railway station for further travel.
How to Reach Goa by Road
The Kadamba bus stand located at Panaji is the main bus stand in Goa. State transport buses from Goa and other neighbouring states including Maharashtra and Karnataka operate regular services between Goa and major cities around.
Moving around in Goa is not a problem with various means of local transport such as local buses, pre-paid taxis, autorickshaws and cycle rickshaws easily available. You can also choose to rent a motorcycle but make sure you have an international license.
