Goa Local Transportation

Goa being one of the hottest tourist haunts in the country, the local authorities and the tourist department have made adequate provisions for the visitors to move conveniently around the region. The available transport options, which range from air-conditioned cabs to cycle rickshaws, are meant to suit every budget and taste. Moving around in Goa is not a problem and the means of local transport are available round the clock.

Buses
Buses operated by state transport as well as private carriers can be seen plying on the roads in large numbers. All the major tourist attractions in Goa are connected through buses and the fee charged is also nominal. Take your pick from the air-conditioned luxury buses or the standard ones.

Taxis
A more convenient way to travel around Goa is to hire a taxi. Vehicles can be hired for the entire day or just from one place to the other according to ones requirement. It is advisable to fix the rent before boarding the taxi in case it is unmetered. Besides, there is also the option of renting a car and driving it yourself.

Motorcycle Taxis
Also known as Pilot taxi, it is a quick means of transport that involves a man taking you on a motorcycle as a pillion rider. It is ideal if you are travelling alone and also want to have a close encounter with the local lifestyle.

Auto Rickshaws/Cycle Rickshaws
These vehicles are ideal for short distance travel. The three wheeled rickshaws can accommodate upto three people and also are cheaper than other means of transport.

Boats/Ferries
Goa being a coastal state, ferries and boats are a popular means of local transport since many years. A number of tourist destinations in the region can still be accessed using boats. Besides being a cheap form of transport, it also offers you a lifetime experience.
